The Creation of the Light Bulb
Although it took 3,000 tries to perfect the incandescent light bulb, Edison and his associates prevailed and made one that functioned properly. Thomas Edison was not the first one to create the light bulb. Many others before him tried, but did not have the light grow bright enough or last long enough. He traveled arou Edison promised a reporter that he would create one in six weeks and display them in front of Menlo Park. He just made a new filament to make it suitable for everyday use. When he figured out that cotton would work the best, he and his workers sat and stared at the new light bulb for hours. Once he made the light bulb, he made the front of his factory glow with these "new" lights. People stood around the factory in just complete awe. They knew that this was a huge turning point for them and their history. This is such a turning point because now we can see in the dark for a long period of time. Also we can have overnight shifts at jobs and factories. The creation of the light bulb will be one of the biggest scientific moments of history.
