Improving the Telegraph
Edison rescued a three-year-old from a track where a box car was about to knock in to her. The father of that girl was very grateful and gave Edison a job to work with him as a professional telegrapher. When Edison was in the telegraph stage of his life he made many improvements and revisions to the telegraph. He hooked up a mechanism that recorded the Morse code into another instrument to send the same dots and dashes. But the station manager found out and told Edison he could not use it anymore. Another improvement he made was increasing the length the message could travel. He invented a special weak - signal wire that was set up with 2 strong batteries. Although he invented this he got fired because his manager was trying to invent the same thing. He also patent a two way telegraph system. The purpose was to shorten wire length.
