Thomas Edison had many strategies for marketing his products. Usually he would just make a change to the invention, another person had, and he would patent it. He did this to make others, who were also making the product, to find another way to improve it. Also if it was a change that made the invention a lot better, and he thought it could make him some money, he would form a business around it. He created several of these businesses including cement factories and iron mining (which he did not succeed at). He would also invent his ideas and try to make a business around them. Some of these buisnesses' where things such as batteries and an electric company.
